Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should I book my maternity session?

A: I recommend scheduling your session between 28–34 weeks. Your belly has a beautiful, round shape and you’re still comfortable enough to pose.

Q: Where do sessions take place?

A: We live in Montana! Many people only dream of having beautiful photos taken in our state. That being said, a majority of my photos are taken outdoors. I do also offer indoor sessions at studios in town. There is a studio fee associated with a studio photoshoot. I am happy to help you choose a location that fits your style.

Q: What if I am nervous about taking photos outdoors with others around?

A: No worries! I have a few private-property locations, so we won’t have any hikers or bird watchers interrupting.

Q: Do you provide wardrobe or should I bring my own?

A: Both work! I offer a curated client closet with maternity gowns in a variety of styles, and it’s always growing, so check back for new pieces. You’re also welcome to bring your own outfits.

Q: Can my partner or children be in the photos too?

A: Absolutely! Maternity sessions can include spouses and children. This is a special time for the whole family.

Q: Can I bring a friend to the shoot?

A: Yes, I actually recommend it! My wife assists when she can, but when she can’t, it’s great to have a friend there to help with outfits or be your cheerleader.

Q: I’m not sure how to pose or what looks good - Can you help?

A: Absolutely! That is what I am here for. I will walk you step-by-step through the poses.

Q: Okay I’m sold! How do I book a session?

A: Awesome, I can’t wait to work with you! Just fill out my Contact Form and I’ll reach out.

Q: How long will it take to get my photos?

A: Full galleries are delivered in about 3–4 weeks. I want to give your photos the attention they deserve!

Q: How many photos will I receive with my session?

A: Great question! I don’t like to put a number on a session. These are YOUR photos, and I deliver every one that turns out. That’s usually around 20 for shorter sessions and 40+ for longer ones.

Q: What if I need to reschedule?

A: Life happens. Kiddos get sick, Mom might not be feeling her best. You get one free reschedule with 24 hours’ notice. After that, it’s a $25 rescheduling fee.

Q: What if the weather is bad?

A: Montana weather is unpredictable most days! If it’s bad enough, we’ll reschedule at no extra cost. Keep in mind, cloudy days are a photographer’s best friend. Clouds act like a giant light diffuser, giving soft, flattering light, and they’ve been behind some of my favorite photos.

Q: Do you offer Birth Photography?

A: Yes! I'm now booking birth photography and videography. Births are unpredictable, so I recommend reaching out early to talk through on-call timing and what to expect. Just mention it in the Contact Form and we'll chat.

Q: What should I wear under my gown?

A: Seamless nude underwear works best to avoid visible lines, and some moms prefer to go without. Totally your call. Bring a nude strapless or convertible bra, or a solid white or black one that matches your outfit. Going braless is also an option if you’re comfortable.

Q: If we are outside how will I change outfits with privacy?

A: I bring a pop-up changing tent to every outdoor shoot, so you’ll have a private spot to change.
